The Catholics could put on purple robes and Nike Sneakers and drink the
Kool-Aid and wait for the mother-ship to arrive. ;)
I think the latest pope has made a lot of them feel
like doing just that. He's a borderline commie and
"liberal" who "legislates from the bench" far too
often for a 1600 year old theological institution.
Hard to view him as the "mouthpiece of Gawd"
when what comes out of his mouth is suddenly
SO different from what's come before.
Hmm ... one scenerio for the 'anti-christ' is to
become the pope to sow discord and pervert
doctrine in order to destroy the HRCC. I wonder
how many ranking officials haven't had one or
two thoughts in that direction ? :-)
Hey, if you've put together a religion of holy writ
and 'revealed truths' ... they ain't SUPPOSED
to change even after thousands of years - not
by much anyhow. The slack for 'interpretation'
only extends just SO far. Yaweh is not known
for changing its mind. The rules are the rules -
yesterday, today, tomorrow, forever - whether
humans *like* them or not.
